I've been trying to not let this get to me but I've had enough. For about a year now I've pretty much had a recurring themed dream. No matter the setting, event, or people, my dreams always has something to do with my neck. It started a little over a year ago.
You don't know this but one of my secret goals is to become a songwriter. I've taken classes, read books, and joined forums to hone that craft, but I've had a serious case of writer's block. I've been blocked before but the difference with this is that I would have very elaborate dreams of performing my award-winning songs before thousands of adoring fans. Some may think that these dreams would be motivation, but it's the opposite. In the dream I'm singing my heart out, but once I wake up, I have no recollection of the melody, chords, or words. I'm left with nothing. I feel as though my unconscious mind is taunting me. It's letting me know that the music is in there, but I can't get to it.
Once the dreams of singing stopped, I would have dreams involving my throat. Some of them would have me purging a nondescript item every time I went to speak, and others would have me unable to swallow.Last nights dream sent me over the edge.
I was some sort of security guard, watching high schoolers pass by, then out of nowhere a 6 ft, 350+ lb boy looked me in the eye, smiled, then put his hand around my throat. It was only for a split second, but I could feel a lump in my throat, and the taste of the loss of oxygen. I was livid. When I tried to fight back he did nothing but smirk, as if to say,'You're too weak to fight. Don't even try. And if you do, I'll make sure that you won't fight again.'
I don't know what to do! I know that dreams rarely mean what they seem, but I've had no luck finding information about dreams involving the throat. I've even looked up neck, choking, purging, vomiting, speaking, singing, tongue and teeth. And I still got nothing.
If you have any idea what these dreams mean, please let me know. Even if you just want to give your give your two cents, I'll happily accept it. I need something to go on.
