Feeling a little bit better today. I'm a little bit hazy and have been all morning. It was probably a good thing for this morning at work, or else I would've instigated a nasty scene.
Co-worker #1: There was a visitor in the other day from Texas who said, holding up the audioguide,'Does this thing come in Spanish?.' I told him no, and he said, making an angry face, 'Good'. It was weird. I guess..because.. in Texas...
cut off be Co-woker #2 (who's from Texas): Yeah. In Texas they are a lot of Spanish speakers... They cater to Mexicans.....I gotta say that being here I kind of like not seeing so many Mexicans.
(cricket sound)
And she continued to say 'Mexican this', Mexican that', before she was interrupted by other co-workers taking up fro the 'Mexicans'.
I couldn't believe it. I'm all for off-colored jokes and being politically incorrect because I think too many people are way too uptight, but to seriously say a racist comment? As part of a large group? At work? I wasn't all there or else I wouldn't have let that pass.
